We're Back!!

Here we go again! I know it's been a long time since we have blogged but we're back! Here are a few pictures to show where we are now.

Emma is in 3rd Grade at Sunset Elementary. She is a very active young lady. She has been active in Sunset Express, the school's singing group. That has definitely kept our whole family busy! We are so proud of Emma and her committment to this group.

Emma is doing well in school. Her teacher says her confidence is out of this world. She is continually begging to participate in after school programs like pottery and calligraphy and she loves playing with her friends.

Here is Lila Marie. She is in 1st Grade. She is also doing very well. She is as active as she has always been. Her teacher helps her focus all that energy and it has helped her be in the top three in her class for reading.

Lila also is active in school. She recently won award for Kindness at her school and this past Christmas she made me a beautiful dish in her pottery class.

Lila is very smart and creative. She loves playing Lego's and beating her Grandpa Z at Cribbage.

Here is little Miss Lydia. We used to call her numerous nick names, Lydi Moo, Lydi Moo Moo Kachoo, Bitty, and just plain Lydi. She has announced that those are not her name. Her name is Lydia and boy, she will not let you forget it! Lydia has done so much growing up since we last posted, it almost breaks my heart.

She has been potty trained this past year and has started preschool/daycare at a local daycare. She loves it and says she has so many friends. She loves her teachers and loves making crafts at school.

Here is our most recent family photo taken this past Christmas. Although we have had a rough couple of years, we are incredibly grateful for each other, our wonderful families, our awesome friends, and the Gospel.

The girls had their ballet recital. They were the prettiest ballerinas I have ever seen.

Emma was more nervous than I have ever seen her. It was cute to see my childs first stage fright.

Lila was so calm and completely unaffected...that is until it came time to dance and then she was so mesmorized by the ballerina who was dancing with her that she didn't move a muscle!

Overall I was so proud of my girls and we were so excited and blessed to be able to share the night with our family! Josh, Marti, and Chris were down for the weekend and it was so much fun to be able to share it with them!

This weekend we rented a movie for our girls and blew up the air mattress and they got to have a slumber party in the living room. As I was preparing to do the blog, seeing this picture reminded me of a sister's moment captured when I was just a baby like Lydia.

It's been four years since I have seen my sister. What a blessing to be able to look back and appreciate the time we did have together. It also helps me to appreciate all the more the sister I do have. I love you Marti!

Emma's Birthday

So I know I am a month late but at least it is finally here. EMMA'S BIRTHDAY PICS!!!

Emma's birthday was the epitome of a runaway train. We had told her all year long that this year was going to be a lowkey birthday. Next year she is turning 8 and so we thought we would save the big party for then. However, the day absolutely snowballed. However, we had a great time, with awesome gifts, and even more awesome friends. It was really a fun day for Emma.

This year she asked for a stage. The mind reels at how to accomplish that task. However when we presented the idea to our great friends Ambur and Eric Jones, within three hours they had it designed, materials purchased, and the stage built. Here is a shout out to them for putting this smile on our daughter's face...Thank you just doesn't seem to be enough!

This is the exact moment she saw the stage. She had no clue! That morning she woke up and said she just knew she was going to get a Swim to Me Puppy because it is her birthday and she gets what she wants. However, a lesson was learned that day. Sometimes Mom and Dad know more what she "wants" then even she does!

Uncle Chrissy also bought her a karaoke microphone that lights up with stage lights and allows her to actually sing to her high school musical music in her CD player. I am amazed we haven't had any complaints from the neighboors!

Before the opening of gifts we had to take Emma and her friends to the park so the guys could get the stage into her room undetected. Here are some of the pics from that fun...

And the birthday would not be complete without the HSM cake. I had a BLAST decorating this cake with Ambur -- Anytime girlfriend, I'd collaborate with you again!

Here is Emma opening Grandma and Grandpa Cranney's gift. We took video of it so they could see. We would also like to send out a shout out to Grandma and Grandpa Zollinger who came and celebrated both November girls birthday's on Halloween. Thank you so much...thanks also to Uncle Chrissy who celebrated then with us as well. Thank you to all who has made our girls feel so special and loved!!

Lydia was absolutely aDORAble this year on her 2nd birthday. She loved her DORA cake. She did not want to eat it, all she wanted was to sit next to it and pet it.

This was definitely a DORA birthday. Between the Dora books, dress up, movies, and toys she received, she is pretty much set in that department.

Lydia's birthday this year was a lot of fun. She really loved all of her gifts and loved her cake. Thanks to Ambur, her cake turned out beautiful! Thanks to all who gave gifts and helped us celebrate!

The Cranney Family Halloween was pretty simple this year compared to previous years but we did manage to do the essentials. Our Grandma Cranney made our costumes. If you can't tell already we decided to make our trip down the Yellow Brick Road to see the Wizard of Oz!! There was not one house where someone commented on how cute our girls looked...:0)

This was Lydia's first year trick or treating and she did not miss a beat! She said "Trick or Treat!" at every house... She asked for M&M's at every house.... She said, "Thank you!" and "You're Welcome!" at every house! She was so excited for all the treats she was getting that she absolutely refused to let go of her candy bag. It was a blast!!

The best part of all was our Grandma and Grandpa Z and Uncle Chris came and shared it with us. They trekked the long trek, packed brooms, Toto, candy bags, and wands and all the while Grandpa Z was back at home watching the World Series and handing out candy. It was an awesome night!

Thank you Grandma and Grandpa Z and Uncle Chrissy!! We love you!!

It wouldn't be Halloween without our traditional Halloween pumpkin carving event. Lila wouldn't go near the insides...she just kept saying "No Daddy. You do it. I'll watch."

Emma swore she was going to be the one to take the seeds and yuck out of the pumpkin. She didn't make it. She put her hands in, gagged, then ran to the bathroom to wash her hands! Here she is carefully placing her hands in the pumpkin so I could get a picture. You can be assured she is not touching anything unbecoming!

Lorna's Visit Part VI

We decided to do the festivities at Worthen park like we did last year. We were going to do stuff around Hurricane but Emma was just too excited about going into town. Here's a glimpse...

Later that night we watched the Hurricane fireworks from our front yard, and did our own. Then we had to say good-bye... :( It was a wonderful week. It filled my cup for sure. I just hope I don't have to go another three years before I get to see them again.

To Lorna, Jossy, Bubba, and Derrick, Thank you for coming to visit us and letting us get to know you better. Thank you for spending the little time you have as a break to come and play with us. We love you and will miss until we can see you again!

Lorna's Visit Part V

Our second to last day we decided to take the kids for a drive to let them rest. We ended up in Pipe Springs. Previously, when I had visited the tour was not available. This time we got to do the whole thing. It was incredible and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a fun and educational activity for their kids about pioneer history.

It was really fun for the kids because they got to be made into Junior Rangers. Here they are taking the oath and then the Ranger pinned little badges on them.

Lorna's Visit Part IV

After a day inside, we figured the kids were going to revolt if we didn't get them busy so we took them to the Wildlife Museum. The kids LOVE this. They each receive binoculars and they get to play in a treehouse where they can dress up like zoologists. We had fun asking them if they could see certain animals and having them point them out to us. Here Joslyn has found a giraffe.

We took the opportunity to take the Madsen's to the St. George Temple for FHE. This was fun for us because it was something we had always wanted to do. We visited the visitor's center and did some of the presentations on eternal families and also saw the Cristus.

We took advantage of the Kodak moment that presented itself...

And we let the kids climb the stairs and touch the temple doors. It was such a special day, that allowed us to teach our kids about eternal families, reverence for the temple, and strengthen family bonds.

Lorna's Visit Part II

We had a neat surprise come our way. Marti and Alex stopped by on their way down to Vegas. We were excited when they agreed to come have Golden Corral with us. Joslyn was funny because she just accepted Aunt Marti as her own. She had to ride with the "other aunt" the entire time Marti was here.

On one of the days, I sent Lorna and Derrick away to go have some time alone and I took on all 5 kids by myself. We had a blast playing playdough. You can see Saxon with his brick of Playdough. That is about the extent of his playing. Really funny ...

We just had to hit our favorite eating spots. After playing at the water park with had icecream at Judd's General Store and then went to have lunch at Marv's. It was sooo yummy!

The Madsen Family Came to Visit!!!

My best friend in the whole wide world chose to spend their one vacation this year with us! It was a wonderful week. I especially enjoyed taking them to see all of our favorite places and do our favorite things. Her kids were just so sweet, and I love that they call me Aunt Sue.

One of the days they were here we went to the water park. This is not something they get in Carson City, NV so this was truly a treat. The kids loved it and had so much fun. Here is Joslyn with such a sweet grin on her face. I don't think she even stopped for a minute!

My kids usually don't play at the fountain but this day, Joslyn was able to show them the fun of it. They especially loved waiting for the water to turn on and spray them all!

Saxon had a good time too. He and Lydia just puttered around and splashed in the water.

This is a bit out of order but the first day we ran in the sprinklers. Lydia was not going to be left out. She got drenched and she was fully dressed!

My birthday was an absolute blast! We did a 50's style murder mystery. Here is Nate in full scale costume!
We have always had a good time doing murder mystery's and we are so excited that we have finally found a group of people who are excited about it. We even got Grandma and Grandpa Zollinger in on it as well. The memory of Grandma playing the town huzzy (her words) and Grandpa calling the bad guys out on the carpet will always live fondly in my mind!

Here are the kids having cake and icecream at the kiddie table. They were such troopers. We didn't end until past 11:00 and they were just happy little campers!

And here's the birthday girl. I vow next time I will have a costume that looks a little less of a marm. This is the cake that Ambur made for me. Isn't it awesome?

Sadly, we don't have any pictures of Gavin and Brooke, we will rectify that situation next time if we haven't scared them away. Thanks again to everyone that came! It was a fun night and I hope we can do it again!

June Waterpark #1 with the Jones Family

June began with our favorite spot. I know that I have a lot of pictures from the waterpark but seriously, there is nothing cuter than these kids having fun playing in the water.

Here is Lila and Isaac eating cowboy cookies. They are the best of buddies!

Lydia began the summer VERY timid about the water. Now it is all I can do to keep her from climbing all the rocks. She won't even hold my hand anymore. She loves the waterfalls!

Emma loves playing with the Jones' girls. They always seem to have a good time every time they get together!

The Kite Festival

On Saturday we went to the annual kite festival in Sun River. This has been a favorite activity of ours since we moved here.

This year the wind wasn't too strong as in years past and although it was intermittent we were able to get our kites in the air.

This event had even more signifigance as we learned that our dear Grandma Z had never flown a kite before. This was her first time! Go Grandma!

After we were done flying kites we decided to enjoy the festival part of the day. The girls got to ride on these blow up games...

All in all, it was an awesome day filled with good memories for everybody.

Easter Weekend

Our Easter weekend began with decorating eggs with Grandma Z. Everyone had a great time! This has been a long standing family tradition.

Saturday morning the Easter bunny came and put an egg trail down that led them to their baskets. This was Lydia's first time really getting into it.

That Easter Bunny is so smart. She, I mean HE, knew the kids were looking forward to going to the kite festival soon so he brought them all kites.

Saturday night, we had a family dinner with Hunter, Josh, Chris, and Grandma and Grandpa. After a ham dinner we had a good time playing on the Wii. Lila happens to be the family bowling champion. Hunter was intrigued by that so here they are battling it out.

Over all it was a fun weekend filled with family and fun!

Emma's Farm Trip

Emma's kindergarten class had their spring field trip where they went to the Stout Family Farm. It was a lot of fun once we got there. They had us walk about a city block to the farm and I, not knowing if my stroller could handle the farm, had to carry Lydia the whole way and drag Lila behind me. Luckily a few rounds of Old McDonald helped us make the most of the walk.

Their farm is just the cutest, most quaint, farm I have ever been to. They had an orchard in their front yard, the house had a wrap around porch, tire and mattress swings in the back and cute little animals all around.

This picture is of the kids gathering around to get their instructions. You can see the horses, the mattress swing, and about 1/4 of the kids that were in attendance.

The first thing they did was bring out the baby lambs to show the kids how they are fed. I don't know about the kids, but it was really fun to see these babies suck from bottles.

Once the kids were separated into groups our group got to feed the horse. I really wasn't sure if the kids would be willing to feed the horse but both just dived in.

Lydia had a really good time walking around. She steered clear of any animal but was perfectly content to walk around and do her best to get her little tush on one of the mattress swings.

The mattress swings were a HUGE hit. The kids loved it and the best part was that a lot of kids could enjoy it at once.

There was a couple other swings to enjoy while we were there. The tire swing in the back and this one here. Lila really liked this one the most.

Baby Lydia is happy as a clam (and trying her darndest to get her hands on my cell phone!). She did not want to get off. We just laid on the swing in the shade, under the trees and listened to the trees and felt the breeze. It was one of the best parts of MY day... :)

The first day that Grandma and Grandpa were here we went to the DI. We found this little toy for Lydia. She liked it so much that we just had to buy it. In fact she would not settle down until she saw that we put it in our cart and were taking it with us.

Conference Weekend Part II

On Saturday, Grandma and Grandpa wanted to go to the Dinosaur Museum at Johnson's Farm. We learned that the way to determine if the dinosaur was a meat-eater or leaf eater was to look at its toes. If it had four toes, it was a meat-eater, if it had three it was the other. We later learned that most of the dinosaurs in this area were meat eaters. Anyway, the kids had fun counting the toes of the tracks.

When we got home, Lydia crashed on Grandpa. What a treat for Grandpa!

Sherrill and I went and did a little shopping and when we came back I found a bunch of lilacs that Nate had picked for me. My house smells wonderful!

On Sunday, we wanted to do a little geo-cacheing and make our way to the Valley of Fire in Nevada. This was a lot of fun for the kids because it was like going on a treasure hunt. They had even more fun when we made it a race to see who could find it first. Luckily, we had Gavin to help us because he was really good at finding them.

Finding this geo-cache was a real adventure. We had to cross some railroad tracks and go down a dirt road that had a no trespassing sign. This led to a cemetary, that once passed, we were able to find the treasure. This was an official one that was full of Nevada pins and pencils for the kids. We had just cleaned out the car so we had to do some real digging to find treasures we could leave behind.

In the field where we found the geo-cache was a beautiful blooming cactus. I just had to share!

The last geo-cache that we found was called the Better than Walmart cache. I still don't know what that meant but we had fun finding it!

Just a few miles beyond the last cache, we got to The Valley of Fire state park. This was also a great time for the kids. There were tons of these rocks for the kids to climb with all this holes and nooks for the kids to climb into.

They could have done this all day if we had let them!

Lydia was not going to be left out. She insisted on climbing like the big girls everywhere she could!

This trail we went down was full of petroglyphs. What was neat about it was we could climb right up to them and look closely. The kids could as well. I told the kids that this particular mountain looked a lot like swiss cheese.

Although it was a full and exciting day, we were exhausted and everyone slept really well that night! The best part was spending time with family and creating awesome memories!

Lila Turned 4!

Lila has finally turned 4, although it took a couple days to convince her that 4 didn't mean 6! For her birthday, she had to have a pink Cinderella castle with Cinderella on the front with a blue dress on. And yes, that is EXACTLY how she put it. While she was in Salt Lake for Spring Break I put together a princess party for her. We didn't tell her that she was going to have a party until the morning of her birthday. The reason being, I came down with food poisoning the Thursday before and I was petrified that I wasn't going to make it. Luckily, it all worked out. She was ecstatic for her pretty new dress and her pretty pink princess castle cake.

To start the princess party off, we played a couple games. Here is a pic of Emma taking her turn trying to put Cinderella in her princess castle.

Next we played a couple rounds of Duck Duck Goose and ring around the rosies. After such exhausting games everyone just had to have some punch.

Well we couldn't have punch without cake. Lila doesn't really like cake, she just likes the frosting. With this being the case, she finished before everyone and wanted to open presents. I was trying to allow everyone to finish their cake but Lila had other plans. Before I knew it she was coming up to me, saying, "Mom look what I got!"

Lila loved all of her presents and the excitement you see here is the same excitement she gave for all because she is just that excited!

After all the festivities, all the kids came back to the house and had a grand old time playing with everything Lila received. Thank you all who came and supported our family! Thank you to all who showered her with presents when she was in Salt Lake. She is definitely the most loved 4 year old I know!

Silly Baby

Lydia is getting more and more personality. With the sun shining we have been going outside a lot and the kids love to ride bikes. Lydia got her own "bike" for Christmas so we brought it out on this day. She would sit on it while I pushed her and we say "Weee!"

Another fascination for Lydia has been anything she can climb on or into. Recently we went to Salt Lake and it was pretty difficult to pack with Lydia either climbing into the suitcase or emptying it as fast as I would pack it. Here she has taken refuge in a basket of dirty laundry. She probably figured it would be a safer bet compared to the suitcases!

Good-Bye Old Truck

Well it is the end of an era in the Cranney/ Zollinger family. This week Nathan sold our blue Ford Ranger. Normally, the selling of a vehicle probably wouldn't call for much of even a second thought but this truck has a lot of memories attached and has been around for a lot of time. My dad bought this car when I was barely a teenager. My fondest memories of this truck included being my dad's travelling partner. We would travel to Idaho to visit our family and to go to our cabin. Sometimes he would even let me bring Valerie and we would sit for hours sewing doll clothes and listening to Garth Brooks in the tape deck.

When I was 15 and learning how to drive it was pretty hard to get my parents to take me out to practice. After much begging, I am sure, Missy offered to take me to learn how to drive. She took me out to Backus Hwy and gave me my first lesson. I will always be grateful for that memory of not only the truck but of my sister.

Eventually my dad needed to part with the truck and, although I do not recall every detail, Missy was the one to purchase it from my dad. A couple of months before Nate and I were to get married Nate had to find another vehicle so his brother, Gavin, could have the Jeep to drive when he turned 16. Missy had had the truck for sale in the newspaper for several months with no luck. Luckily for us it hadn't been sold, because we really needed that truck, and she sold it to us.

The truck was in good hands with Nathan. When it needed anything, Nate, put blood, sweat and tears into it to keep it running. He's worked on just about everything you possibly can on a vehicle and probably then some. We took the truck on our 1st anniversary trip to California. We laughed as we drove this muddy, beat up (well loved), truck down Rodeo Dr. next to all the Mercedes and Jaguars. It was a scene straight out of the Beverly Hillbillies! We also took shelter in it when we went camping and our tent didn't have a rain cover when we needed it most. We discovered the truck was the absolute best option for drive-in movies. With the shell and a good stereo it was like it was our own movie theatre. We would put an air mattress and a whole bunch of pillows and have a great time!

Our girls have loved it as well. The biggest treat of all for them was to ride in Daddy's truck to go anywhere. Both Emma and Lila got to ride in Daddy's truck to go on a Daddy daughter date after getting potty-trained.

I am sure there are more memories that I am missing. Right here in the moment it is hard remember all of the good times that I know are associated with this truck. All of this was brought about because Nate was able to get himself a new truck after the Ranger had run on its last legs. When we posted it on KSL it was only a matter of hours before someone contacted us. This person's family had hit some hard times and needed a vehicle at a good price and was handy enough to make the Ranger run a bit longer. We hope that they will grow to love that truck as much as we have and wish them all the best.

Family Fun

This past weekend we had great news! My parents were granted their visitation rights to see Josh, Melissa's son. Marti had actually been down to St. George the weekend prior so we got to see her a little bit then and then the very next week, we took off to Salt Lake when we got the good news. This was a big event for us because Marti, Chris, and I and all of our kids have not been allowed to see Josh since October of 2007 while all interested parties got it worked out. Another bright spot to all of this was Josh got to meet Lydia for the first time.

One of the highlights, for me anyway, was watching Grandma Z dive in and play rockband with all of us! Go Grandma!

Here is Josh meeting Lydia. Usually she is very timid around people she doesn't know. But not with Josh. She crawled right up and sat on his lap like they had always been the best of friends.

In Saint George, the previous week, Nate and I got the opportunity to take Alex V. and Hunter along with our girls to a new family restaurant here, Pirate Island Pizza. It was a lot of fun. Alex here is wearing this kids menu on his head!

This kids had a blast. Not only did Nate win them prizes at the arcade, but the whole place was pirate themed all the way down to the pirate ship and waterfalls. All the waiters were dresses up and the food was decent as well! I have a hunch that this is where Lila is going to have us go for her birthday in March. All in all we really enjoyed our time with our family. Thank you to Grandma and Grandpa Zollinger for facilitating our awesome family reunion. We love you guys!

Lila's 1st Birthday Party

We were so excited when Lila received her first invitation to a birthday party. She's been to others but this was the first where it was just her friend and Emma wasn't included. Her little friend Serena invited her to her 4th birthday party. It was Strawberry Shortcake themed and she came home with tons of goody bags and the biggest smile!

Lydia's Playin' Dress Up

Our Aunt Marti bought Lydia her first dress up during one of her trips here last fall and on this day we decided to break it out. I didn't want to completely undress her so she got the dress up experience over her clothes which I don't think she was too excited about. Lila decided that she wanted to be twinners with Lydia and so here is our two Snow White's.

Lydia gets extremely excited when she gets to play in her sister's room. There is never a dull moment there, that's for sure! Here she is playing Barbie's with Lila...

Mischief

So as I was going through my pictures for this latest blog, it was becoming blatantly clear to me exactly who takes more pictures on our camera. My children!

Just so you can see what they have been up to when I have turned my back here you go...

First, there are lots of rules in my house and most are just common sense. One of them that is farely recent is -there shall be no children on the computer as they do not know what they are hurting and have their own games and gaming consoles. (On a side note, this is a new computer that was purchased as a result of too many children playing on the computer.) Emma is going to learn that having her sister take a picture of her breaking the rules may not play to her advantage.

Lila is well known as our family acrobat and well, let's just say family tornado. Here is Emma documenting that fact.

Being almost 4, Lila is very into doing things all by herself. Today she decided to do her own hair... Luckily Mother is close by to help guide the child :)

What I have Been Up to...

I realize that this is not necessarily front page material but I have received a couple requests from people to see what I have been up to recently.

This box is what Sherrill and I did when they visited last week. We learned how to decoupage and it was a blast. The added bonus was I got to use my Cricut which I have been looking for every available opportunity to do. I want to make more! :)

After the previous dress I made for Lydia got ruined (someone took scissors to it before Lydia could even where it) I just barely got the opportunity to make her another. I just finished it today :)

I wanted to make the girls some jammies for Christmas but I just couldn't get them done. I cut out patterns for each girl to have 2 jammies each and just finished them the last week in January. Where does life take me I have no idea!

Our Climber

Well it would seem that Lydia has hit a new phase. Climber. In addition to our table, the couch, and pretty much every toy that stands to about her height, she really enjoys climbing on this shopping cart walker that she got from Santa Claus. I being the quirk I am was curious to see how she would get herself out of this mess.

At first I blamed Lila for putting her in there but now I am seen with my own eyes how Lydi Moo gets into her own brand of trouble.

At this point is where I stepped in!

T'is the Season...

We kicked off the Christmas season by visiting the fat man himself! We went to the Festival of Trees where we saw the most authentic Santa I have ever seen...Check out his beard!

One of the highlights this season was getting a visit from Grandma and Grandpa Cranney. We had loads of fun which was not limited to playing nonstop with Grandma and going to the live Nativity at Tuacahn...

We followed Grandma and Grandpa home to Salt Lake where we got to spend two days with Marti! We had our own Christmas party where we exchanged gifts and had some yummy treats! Thank you Aunt Marti for our presents! You do spoil us!

After the exchange, there was a big snowstorm. Being from Saint George, this was a BIG deal for us! We just couldn't resist!

Our last night in Salt Lake we stayed at Grandma Cranney's. Matt and Loni braved the weather and came to a party. Emma's favorite gift of the night was her digital camera. Thanks Grandma and Grandpa!

Christmas Day

Emma got her "Camp Rock" soundtrack. This was the big ticket, in every letter to Santa (and there were many!) item.

Everyone got a new mechanical toothbrush. There is a new excitement buzzing about our house over toothbrushing!

In true Emma form, she is much more excited about the items that cost pennies versus the expensive gifts. She thought this little toy was awesome!

She spent the entire day listening to Camp Rock on her new portable CD player. Now the day after Christmas her ears are a bit raw from listening for so long.

This year was the most enjoyable to watch Lila. She is enthusiastic and excited about EVERYTHING! She loved every toy and every toy was "just what she wanted!!"

Lydia has the eternal sweet tooth. There is no doubt she knows exactly what this little package holds!

She was hesitant with this bike, but I am certain in time she will LOVE it!

The older girls however LOVE it already. They have been scooting each other around. If the toy makes it long enough for Lydia to get old enough to enjoy it we will be surprised!

This little jungle toy was the favorite. Everytime it turns on she discovers something new and just can not help but dance!

Santa put Lydia's first toothbrush in her stocking this year. She darts right for it whenever it is in her sight. We are hoping that now she will stop putting her sister's toothbrushes in her mouth :p

Here is Lila on her first Big Girl Bike...She was so excited to have one just like Emma's. In true Lila fashion she smoked us the second she got on the road, and then turned around and did circles around us.

This is the first time since Emma got her bike, three years ago, that she has been able to really ride it. She is excited about the fact that she can practice every day and is convinced the exercize will make her faster on the track at school!

Halloween Fun

Our Halloween fun began this year with our annual tradition of carving pumpkins. This is Daddy's event and this year he did a "Posh" kitty. We are so proud of Emma for actually getting her hands dirty and helping Dad get the seeds out.

Lila in curlers. This was not easy. She wanted her hair "just got out of bed" style. Mom had to actually put her foot down to get her all dolled up.

Emma's First Field Trip

Emma got to go on a field trip to the fire station. She got to meet a couple firemen, sit in the truck, and spray the hose. I got to accompany her which was a lot of fun for me.

She said her favorite part was spraying the hose and seeing her friends that she left behind.

Emma's Bad Day

Here is poor, poor Emma. She got pushed down at school and hurt her arm (as a result of kids not paying attention while waiting in line to come in from recess). When she got home, she needed a shower and fell in the shower because her arm hurt and she couldn't catch herself. Because of that, she got a pretty good gash in her chin. She earned herself and trip to the Instacare and got to ride on a wheelchair and got xrays, she also got Spongebob stickers which she was especially excited about. She told me that I need to get with it because Spongebob is funny...I hate Spongebob. It turned out she had a buckle fracture in her arm. Poor, poor Emma.

Update: Emma is doing really well. The only thing that bugs her is the fact that she has to wear the brace. She has no pain whatsoever. Odd, I know. Her chin is healing really well. The glue they put on has already fallen off and her cut looks like it will heal okay. I do think she will have a scar.

The Joys of Motherhood!

We have been having fun at our house this week. Lydia is becoming quite the handful. She is into EVERYthing. We have not had the opportunity to purchase a baby gate for our stairs so I have been putting this laundry basket in front of it so Lydie can't go up the stairs. (I can't tell you how many times I have had to chase after her chasing after her sisters!) Lydia thought she could outsmart good ole Mom...

This is the result. No she is not sleeping. First she high-centered herself and then fell in. I thought it was so cute that I had to take a picture before rescueing her. Aww the joys of motherhood!

We were having some friends over so we decided to make sugar cookies. Emma thought it would be a good idea to start a flour fight with Mom. Emma is young and doesn't quite have the skill developed.

Our First House!!

Here is a picture of our new house in Hurricane, UT!! We are so excited to announce that we are First Time Homebuyers!! This past weekend was moving day, we had the help of many friends. Mostly we need to thank McKenna, Kim, and family (McKenna's Dad).

Our kids love their new house. Emma and Lila have a new pink room, with brand new bunkbeds (Goodbye toddler beds!!), and all new bedding. Lydia also has her own room.

We have to give our Grandma and Grandpa Z our BIGG thanks for taking such good care of us while we were packing and moving. Inspite of all that LOVE, Lila has announced that she is never going to leave her mom again and every time I go to leave the house she says that she never wants to leave the house. She is going to stay here forever and ever and ever!

I can't tell you how excited we are. Just to have a driveway and garage is huge but I love my kitchen and all the space each of the rooms have. I even thanked my garbage man when he picked up my trash (I am soo excited to have my own garbage man!)

The Great Outdoors

With the weather cooling down we have ventured out into the great outdoors. Two weekends ago Lew and Sherrill came down for the girls cheerleading event and we decided to go for a drive. We have been talking about going camping for a long time now but I didn't feel comfortable taking my kids into the wilderness without first finding a suitable spot.

On our quest to find a good camp site we decided to take advantage of Grandpa Cranney's park pass and check out Kolob canyon. It was beautiful! I was amazed that such beauty could be so well hidden.

Next we decided to go to Cedar Canyon and check out Duck Creek Pond. We went to the visitors center and they told us about an ice cave that was close by.

Here is my adventurous little Emma going into the depths of the cave without even so much as a flashlight. Lila and I also went down. It was cold!

It felt sooo good!

Our next stop was Duck Creek Pond. We found the water and just had to be apart of it. Once we saw the campground and the pond we just knew we had to come back and go camping.

This weekend we took the opportunity to go camping. We gathered all our gear, grabbed our neighbors, McKenna, Jake, Brandon, Emma Kate, and Cole, then headed out into the wilderness.

The first thing the kids did was take off running. Apartment living just doesn't afford us the opportunity to just run wild. This was awesome!

Having the tent set up lent a lot of material for play.

Here is Lydia in her play pen. This lasted about 30 seconds. She was way too busy to be set on the sidelines.

After exploring the campground, taking a potty break, and set up our tents, we went about finding firewood to help the daddies. We were very good scavengers.

Here we are at the visitors center waiting for our Dad's to get information. We are just so happy to be here!

We made it into the ice cave again. This time we all got down in there at the same time. Turns out, this is about as far as the cave goes. You wouldn't know it by looking down into it from the top.

Next on our agenda we went to Mammoth Cave. While our Daddy was checking it out to see how safe it was we just had to take a moment to pose.

We decided it was even safe enough for all of us, even Lydia to go down into the cave. Nate, Jake, and Emma Kate tried to crawl through the cave to the other side. The only thing they managed to find was a LOT of mud. The rest of us smarties decided to hang back.

When we got back from the caves we set about finding pine cones.

Emma was having such a good time that she was whistling.

Then we had to run again!

After a yummy dinner we got to roast (or fry as Emma kept calling it) marshmallows. Emma said it was her favorite part. That was ironic because the second she put the roasted marshmallow in her mouth she spit it right out!

Lila had no patience for roasting. She just ate the marshmallow right of the pole and then forgoed the pole all together and just ate the marshmallow. She ate as many as she could get her hands on.

When asked what her favorite part was, she said it was the sleepover. That was understandable because she was the only one who slept through the night. The rest of us had a very cold and uncomfortable night. Emma even got sick and threw up on my pillow. Despite that, it has been all they could talk about since we left and definitely want to do it again!

We got the opportunity to join the Snow Canyon High School Junior Cheer clinic this week. We had two days of practice and then we got to do the dance we learned for half time at the football game on Friday night. We had sooo much fun! It was hard at times, our attention span is very limited but in the end it was a BLAST!!

Below is video of the girls practicing and also their actual performance. It is hard to see them dancing so the practice gives you a chance to see them up close. Emma Dawn had so much fun. She was enthralled from the second it started right until the very end. Lila struggled a bit more. But she has forgotten all the trouble of being cooped up for hours at a time and are just thrilled to have made through the experience. I have a feeling that we will be pretending to be cheerleaders for a long time to come! :)

Emma started Kindergarten TODAY!! She is so excited. She wore her pretty new dress and her pretty new shoes and had her pretty new backpack (call me Marti). She just had to pose!!

When we got to her classroom, her teacher set her on a treasure hunt to help her get acquainted with her room and the rules of the class. She had a lot of fun getting acquainted with the drinking fountain and the slide!

Here she is. She really didn't want to leave. She kept asking, "Mom when are we going to get taught?" Soon enough, Emmabug. Soon enough.

What's New Today

Today has been a big day. Here is Emma she made her first pillow for her baby dolls -- All By Herself. She was so cute. The entire time she kept saying that it was so fun. She even offered her help the next time I sew. She is very proud of herself. Our next project will be to make a blanket for her babies.

Lila got to go on a date with Daddy today. They went to McDonalds and had chicken nuggies. Then they went to Sand Hollow Aquatic center where Lila and Daddy rode the big slide about 30 times. Lila said she screamed a lot! Then she got to spend a dollar at the dollar store. She got herself a little fishing toy.

Two Little Princesses

This Summer the girls have been working really hard. Both have chores that they do to earn stickers. Once they complete a row they earn a dollar to go to the dollar store. After they complete a chart they get a big treat. This time around they both earned a new princess dress up. Emma chose Sleeping Beauty and Lila chose Snow White. Lila also earns more stickers when she potty trains.

Recently Lila just decided to go for gold. She is currently one week without any daipers. She completed her chart and now she is on a "Date with Daddy". They are going to the Sand Hollow Aquatic Center to go swimming and then out to lunch. Way to go Lila!!

In June we went to Salt Lake for the Manager's retreat. We stayed with Grandma Cranney. The kids love playing in Grandma's backyard. Luckily we were able to get Lydia in the baby swing for her first ride. She really enjoyed it.

A trip to Salt Lake just isn't what it should be if we don't get to visit with Great Grandma and Grandpa Stowe. We love to play with them, tell them stories, sing to them, and most of all, we LOVE to steal Grandpa's hat and hide from him.

In June we went to Salt Lake for a Manager's Retreat. It was really nice. The first day Nate spent the day doing the ropes program. It is a course of team building exercizes that apparently are done from mid air. I think I would have had a heart attack if I had to watch! Then that first night we went to Park City and had dinner with all the managers at Grub Steak and then went to the Marriott for a wonderful night sleep. The next day, we got up and went to the Olympic park where we did the zip line and the alpine slide. Here are some pictures and some video of the event. It was the craziest thing I have done since having kids! It was soooo fun!

The Fourth of July was one of our funnest yet here in Saint George. We had Gavin and Brooke to celebrate with us. We all went to breakfast at a park in downtown Saint George. They had booths with yummy treats, watermelon seed-spitting contests, cotton candy, etc. Plus lots of activities for the kids.

They had games for the kids. Emma rocked the ring toss! She won free passes to the Sand Hollow Aquatic Center!

The rides were a blast too! Here the kids are riding the swings. It wasn't Lagoon but it was probably our favorite ride of all!

We got to jump, jump, jump in the huge castle.

The train was a pretty good time as well!

Here's our baby girl. Doesn't she just scream the Fourth of July? Nate said it made him want a hot dog real bad!!

Another fun place to go is the Sand Hollow Aquatic Center. We got to go when our friends, the Naivalu's, came to town. It has a really cute kiddie pool with this froggie slide and some water fountains. The kids had so much fun. We will definitely have to go again!

Here is Lila playing in the froggy slide. She was told that she had to stay by the froggy due to the fact that she wandered off too far, where she couldn't touch, and just ended up floating in circles until we could save her!

We received the AWESOME opportunity to go to Tuacahn to see Les Miserables this past weekend. It was incredible! As you can see in the picture the stage is not only made of wood and plaster but they also have the mountains in the background that they use to their advantage. They used live animals, and for the fighting scenes they had real fireworks right above our heads. It was an experience of a lifetime and we would recommend it to anyone!

Nate's Been Busy

Hello again. This is me on top of the bluff behind my apartment. This was especially difficult given I recently lost my left hand in a nasty paper cut accident. I'm not sure what happend in this picture but seriously it was a difficult hike.

I've been busy with some new endeavors. The most intertaining of which is this new acquisition.

It's a 1982 Kawasaki KZ440-D. It's 440 cc's which is not much but enough to take me anywhere I want to go. The best part was the price. $200.00. Not bad considering it's only $100.00 if he cannot find the key. In the mean I
took out the ignition and drive it without a key.

It only needed a few minor repairs and was otherwise ready to drive. I'm so excited about it I can hardly see straight. Gavin and I went to get bike permits and I've also got it registered, licensed, and insured so we're legal. My plan is to drive it to work and back everyday. This should save quite a bit in gas. I'm getting lots of experience driving it as well. In fact, yesterday I hit a bat while riding. There were loads of them flying around and one wasn't using his radar becasue he flew right into my head. Gavin and I laughed over that one for long time.

Lydia's Getting Sooo Big!

Lydia is getting sooo big! She refuses to lay down in her swing. She insists on sitting up like a big girl...

She is playing with her big girl toys. Although it is getting difficult to explain to her that she can't put that entire toy in her mouth...

She's so precious! Thanks to Uncle Chris and Aunt Carrie for the adorable outfit. She can even sit up and pose for her picture...

And last but not least, she has officially grown out of the newborn tub and can now take a bath with her sisters in her bath seat.

We Are Artists

So when Emma graduated preschool we had a LOT of time on our hands so we decided to put them to good use. Grandma Cranney had sent the girls some wood toys that needed to be painted (like a year ago --- sorry, pregnancy prevented me from doing more then just what was absolutely necessary for survival). We painted them and the girls had so much fun.

We weren't done! The girls have been earning stickers for doing things around the house and when they earn so many they get to go to the dollar store. Well we found some plaques at the dollar store and all the paint that we needed and they made themselves name plates for their room.

This is my first blog experience. I just wanted to give a shout out to all those that may be viewing our blog. I will be traveling to Salt Lake on business Thursday May 8th. I'll be at the Cranney's home from that afternoon into the evening until about 6:30 pm. All is well here. Today was a hair coloring extravanganza. Suzy dyed her hair hot pink. Ok it was brown but nextime it will be hot pink. It looks great. She is really excited about it. Somehow I was tricked into getting my hair dyed as well. Hot pink just isn't my color so I went with the same color I have now. It all seems to be one color now. Unfortunately it didn't do anything for the bald spots but otherwise it looks pretty good. This is all for now. Stay tuned for weekly updates at the most.

We Got a New Camera!!

Grandpa Z took us on this trail right outside Snow Canyon to find desert torteses (sorry I don't know how to spell them). We didn't see any, and it was an exceptionally windy day but it was nice to get out in the sunshine.

Here you can see little Lydia has decided she likes to suck her thumb. She will even take her binky out of her mouth and play with her thumb. This was also her first time in the pool.

I got my birthday present 6 weeks early! Nathan got me a new camera. So in honor of this occasion, here are some new pictures. Also, this new camera takes video with sound. Happy Day!! We hope all is well with you!

Emma graduated from Dixie State College Preschool today. They had a program where they sang songs for us and then they got to pass through a very large D to accept their diploma. Emma is now set to go to Kindergarten. She will be attending Arrowhead Elementary and we get to meet her teacher on May 9. Grandma Z was able to come and see her off. It was a lot of fun!

We are really excited to announce The Cranney Family Blog. It is here where we will post pictures, and details of the goings on of our life. We hope that you will have a good time participating by sending us your feedback. Our family is young but there is always something going on. So check us out often!

Also, I would like to start a book club. Any of you who would like to participate, let me know. Also if you have ideas for books that we could read I would be interested as well.
